New York Employer Compliance Accelerator

A Structured Compliance Risk Assessment for New York Employers

What It Is

The New York Employer Compliance Accelerator is a structured, document-based legal review designed to identify compliance risks in your written employment materials under New York law and related federal requirements.

It provides clarity, prioritization, and a written report identifying where legal exposure exists and what should be addressed first.

This is not a generic policy review. It is a focused legal risk assessment designed to identify statutory exposure and enforcement risk.

Who It’s Designed For

The Accelerator is appropriate for:

  • New York employers seeking a structured compliance review
  • Organizations that have grown or evolved over time
  • Employers preparing for board review, investor scrutiny, or leadership transition
  • Companies that want to proactively identify risk rather than react to claims

It is appropriate for employers who want to proactively assess risk before issues become disputes, investigations, or claims.

The Accelerator is intended for employers seeking structured legal clarity without committing to an open-ended advisory engagement. It is particularly well-suited for employers with a defined set of employment documents seeking a contained, fixed-fee legal assessment.

What’s Included

The Accelerator includes review of the following materials:

  • Review of one employee handbook or policies packet (up to 75 pages)
  • Review of up to 5 additional employment-related document templates (up to 20 pages each)
  • Preliminary wage and hour risk screening based on submitted documents and information
  • Screening for the presence of union-represented employees
  • A written compliance risk assessment report

What It’s Not

The Accelerator is limited to document-based risk identification. It does not include payroll audits, employee-specific advice, litigation representation, or multi-state compliance analysis.

Remediation or implementation work may be addressed through a separate engagement if desired.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the review take?

Once all requested documents are received and confirmed complete, the written compliance risk assessment report is typically delivered within 10–14 business days.

What happens after I receive the report?

The report identifies high-, medium-, and lower-priority risk areas. Employers may choose to address issues internally or engage Horton Law PLLC for remediation, drafting, or additional advisory services under a separate engagement.

Does this include a wage and hour audit?

No. The Accelerator includes a preliminary wage and hour risk screening based on submitted documents and employer-provided information. It does not include review of payroll records, timekeeping data, or compensation practices in operation.

Is this appropriate for multi-state employers?

The Accelerator focuses on compliance under New York law and related federal requirements for employees based in New York.

Can employers with unionized employees participate?

Yes. The Accelerator includes accounting for union-represented employees. However, detailed review or interpretation of collective bargaining agreements is not included unless separately engaged.

How is this different from a handbook review?

A handbook review typically focuses on updating language within a single document. The New York Employer Compliance Accelerator is broader. It evaluates your handbook along with related employment templates, identifies statutory exposure and enforcement risk, and prioritizes issues across your document set.

The deliverable is a structured compliance risk assessment report designed to provide clarity and prioritization, rather than simply suggested edits to existing policies.
